Touching Farewell Between Gojo and Geto (2022)

Warning: This article contains spoilers from the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie (and manga Volume 0). So make sure to watch the movie first to avoid ruining your experience.

What Happens at the End of the JJK 0 Movie?

The ending of the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie saw Yuta and Rika obliterate Geto’s curses and abilities, nearly killing him. Geto was shown limping and his right arm entirely amputated in an alley in the streets of Tokyo Jujutsu High. He acknowledged Yuta Okkotsu’s power even when he was on the verge of death. Then, Geto said, “You finally made it” upon seeing Gojo Satoru arrive at the scene. Here, Gojo was seen without his blindfold.
Geto still checks upon his family (not his parents, but the curse users) with Gojo despite all of his wrongdoings, proving that even the most notorious curse user of all time had some goodness left in him. Even more, Gojo claimed that he trusted Geto with the matter since he was a moral person who wouldn’t harm his students without a good reason. Their beautiful friendship was revealed in a very shocking way indeed.
So, before killing him, Gojo asked Geto if he had any final words. Geto responded with: “No matter what, I’ll always hate those monkeys (humans or non-sorcerors),” demonstrating he was still committed to his ideals even at the very end. However, he also said he didn’t hate any other person from Jujutsu High. The most controversial moment occurs after that incident. Geto responds with a smile as Gojo mumbles something to him, stating, “You should at least curse me at the end”. You can then hear a loud slashing sound in the background as the scene comes to an end, indicating that Gojo killed Geto Suguru.
Now, what exactly did Gojo say to Geto at the end was the only thought that tickled everyone’s mind. Both the manga panel and the movie have the answer to this question, but not in a direct manner. Here, we will use manga panels to explain the exact thing Gojo told his friend Geto in the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie ending.

Gojo’s Last Words to Geto in Jujutsu Kaisen 0

In an interview, when JJK author Gege Akutami was asked when he would divulge the words Gojo whispered to Geto at the end of Jujutsu Kaisen 0. He responded to the query by stating that it was already revealed in JJK manga volume 0. Then, the fans began to comb through every chapter of Volume 0 in quest of a plausible answer. Akutami Gege Interview Translations (Part 2)Q: In volume 0, Getou replied to Gojo “At least curse at me at the very end” Will there come a day where the words Gojo said to Geto are revealed?A: He said it in volume 0.#呪術廻戦 #JujutsuKaisen pic.twitter.com/3qRO6A6bfx— shiro (@kaikaikitan) November 3, 2020
And the fans ultimately ended up finding the answer. The solution is in the panel right after Gojo and Geto’s talk and the latter’s death. In the scene where Gojo hands over Yuta’s student ID to him, Yuta says, “My I.D.! You picked it up” To this, Gojo responds, “No, Not me.” He further adds, “My best friend did, my one and only“. And this statement, which Gojo said to Yuta, is what he also told Geto at the end. In the ending scene of Jujutsu Kaisen 0, Gojo must have said this to Geto – “You are my best friend. My one and only.”
Although Akutami didn’t confirm this explicitly, these are the exact words Gojo said to his best friend Geto in his last moments. Now, many of you might be wondering why this particular dialogue? It could be anything else, right? But if you look closely at Geto’s response, that too with a smile on his face, proves that Gojo definitely said something positive and heartwarming at the end.
And those words from Gojo comforted his best friend Geto before his demise. Gojo said so because, during their farewell, he wanted Geto to know that even though they had their differences and had taken separate routes in life, he still considered Geto his one and only best friend. This entirely explains Geto’s reaction as well. It was both a lovely and tragic moment for two powerful sorcerers and best friends. After all of this, these guys cherished each other and considered each other their best friends.
When Gojo mentioned his friend to Yuta, the moment served as a beautiful metaphorical scene and cinematic parallel to Gojo’s and Yuta’s friendships in Jujutsu High. If you look back at that scene, the next scene shows the happy faces of Maki, Panda, and Toge. And Yuta grins after seeing the happy faces of his “best friends”. Akutami masterfully crafted this scene overflowing with wholesome emotions rather than revealing the last words Gojo said during his friend’s farewell. It is little moments like this that made us fall in love with the Jujutsu Kaisen anime.
What happened to Geto after JJK 0? After being severely injured by Yuta and Rika during their fight at Tokyo Jujutsu High, Geto Suguru limped around the streets and came across Gojo. Satoru bid farewell to Geto and killed him at the end of the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie.
Why did Gojo meet Yuta in the end? Gojo travels to Kenya to persuade Miguel to train Yuta overseas and help him harness his cursed energy. Yuta was training with Miguel in Kenya during the events of JJK Season 1.
